About Me

I am a certified nurse-midwife providing prenatal and women’s health services. I have more than 30 years of health care experience, including in emergency and intensive care settings. As a nurse-midwife, I’ve helped women give birth at home and in hospitals and birth centers. Before joining Penn State Health, I served as director of the Reading Midwife Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, and as a nurse-midwife at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts.

Making sure women everywhere have access to quality birth services is important to me. As a nurse-midwife, I’ve traveled around the world to provide women with needed birthing care. I’m the co-founder of the GoodBirth Network, a nonprofit organization that brings midwife services to low- and middle-income countries.

I’ve published articles in many professional journals and taught at City, University of London (now City St. George’s,) Boston University and Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia.

Outside of work, I’ve owned a bookstore in Massachusetts and love gardening, herbalism, singing, kayaking and doing anything with my dog Rigby.
